Artistic Philosophy

My First Love

Life is full of firsts. As humans, we have a tendency to always remember our "firsts." Firsts are really important to us and we cherish them forever. I will always consider ballet to be my first love. Dance is extremely important to me. For the majority of my life, dancing has been my first priority. I will always remember the thrill of my first dance recital and wearing my first pair of pointe shoes. Even, the nerves of performing my first ballet solo. These are all memories I hope to never forget because it’s the good, exciting memories that makes everything worth it.

I love dancing because dance is what makes me feel most alive. The nerves right before you go on stage, mixed with the adrenaline rush when you’re performing onstage will always be my favorite feeling on earth. Dance has taught me many life lessons about discipline, perseverance, courage, and dedication. I’ve always admired technical dancers because clean technique shows their work ethic. Dance is extremely challenging and you can’t just wake up with perfect technique, you must constantly train and work for it everyday and I aspire to be that kind of dancer. I hope to be able to continue my dance education in college, to grow as a dancer. It would be a dream to pursue ballet as a career and work in a brand new environment with so many talented people and opportunities in store.

Through dance, you are capable of inspiring the audience. I was inspired at three years old and I hope that one day, I’ll be fortunate enough to inspire others. Dancing has made such a huge impact on my life and brought me to where I am today. Thanks to dance, I received opportunities I never dreamed of having and met wonderful people along the way who have helped me so much through this incredible journey.
